GHOSTS OF YIN-JIN
XIONGNU (THE HORSE CLANS)
The Xiongnu are nomadic horse tribes originally from a continent to the west of Yin-Jin. At various periods in history, when a winter is severe enough (usually a volcanic one) an ice bridge forms between the two lands. Towards the end of the Summer Dynasty, the Great Khan led a massive horde over this land bridge an invaded Yin-Jin. He would eventually defeat the last Summer King and crown himself the first king of a new Autumn Dynasty. The Xiongnu are bred to the saddle, as soon as an infant is born they are placed in a special birth saddle and led through their village on horseback. They are the greatest horsemen to be found, skilled in saber, spear, and especially horse archery. Many Xiongnu have settles in the lands between the Silk Wall and the coast, but they can be found throughout Yin-Jin, but most numerous in Yazi. The Xiongnu are a short, thick people with skin bronzed by the sun and often a reddish cast to their hair. While many enjoy some of the trappings of civilization, most cling tightly to the traditions of their people. To the Xiongnu your given word is everything, and oaths are not spoken lightly. They are slow to trust, but if you gain their confidence they will remain fiercely loyal.
: The Xiongnu are born and raised in the saddle and there are no finer cavalry than theirs. Xiongnu characters receive a +5 ride, in addition their maximum for that skill is always five higher than their rank allows.
