GHOSTS OF YIN-JIN
TANNKA (BOAT PEOPLE)
The Tannka are a wandering boat people who arrived in Yin-Jin more than a thousand years ago. They had fled their homeland after catastrophic earthquakes and tsunami destroyed their homes. They were welcomed by the Spring Kings and very quickly assimilated to life in their new home, it is their children with the Chunren that gave birth to the Xia, now the most plentiful race in Yin-Jin. While many adapted to the new life, there were some who clung to their old ways. For centuries bands of these river gypsys have wandered the water ways of the land living off the fish they would catch, their unique crafts, and more often than not, petty theft. As a result, the Tannka are not always well liked or trusted, but many put up with their antics because they can be an invaluable source of information. The tannka can be found on any of Yin-Jin’s rivers and are most plentiful at the city of Qiuniu, on the shore of Moon Lake. They appear small and fine boned and are the shortest race of Yin-Jin, they dress in bright colors and often carry many concealed weapons. The Tannka themselves are very insular, although they enjoy performing for strangers in their brightly painted boats. The Tannka always appear cheerful and smiling, and their eyes miss very little. The Tannka may seem small and defenseless, but it is well known that when you fight one Tannka, you fight them all.
: The Tannka are amazingly light on their feet, and a life spent on rocking boats grants them amazing balance, many are consummate acrobats, and feats of agility are among their favorite past times. All Tannka receive a +5 finesse, and their maximum finesse is always five higher than their rank allows.
